Cynthia Jordan wrote Jose Cuervo in 1983 and saw the power of music first hand. The song immediately shifted into high gear and became a honky tonk anthem. It hit #1 on the charts sung by Shelly West who also had a #1 hit in 1981 with Your the Reason God Made Oklahoma with David Frizell. In addition, Billboard Magazine named Jose Cuervo the #1 country song of the year 1983 and earned her a Grammy nomination.
